WEATHERFORD--Jordan Reever completed 12-13 passes in the second half to lead South Garland (1-0) to a 27-9 victory against Weatherford (1-1) at Kangaroo Stadium.   Reever led South Garland's offense by throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for another.   After Antwaun Hobbs scored on a 3-yard run for South Garland, it jumped to a 14-0 lead when Reever found Jerome Anderson for a 1-yard touchdown with 6:32 left in the third quarter.   After Weatherford trimmed the lead with a Doug Terpin 30-yard field goal, South Garland answered with a 15-play 82-yard drive, capped by Reever's 3-yard touchdown run.   South Garland secured the victory when Reever hit Raimond Pendleton for a 36-yard touchdown pass with 4:21 left in the game.

GARLAND-- South Garland scored 28 unanswered points to post a 41-26 victory against Richardson at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.   South Garland (2-0) trailed 24-14 in the second quarter, but scored at the end of the half to trim the lead to three points then scored midway through the third quarter to take a lead it would never relinquish.   South Garland quarterback Jordan Reever found wide receiver Justin Blackledge with a 5-yard touchdown pass with 4:19 left in the first half to trim Richardson's lead to 24-21.   South Garland took a 28-24 lead when Harold Hamilton recovered the ball in the end zone after a Richardson muff with 4:13 left in the third quarter.   South Garland secured the victory when cornerback Marcus Applewhite intercepted Doug Scott's pass at the South Garland 1-yard line, halting a Richardson drive.   Applewhite returned the ball to the South Garland 48.   Three plays later Antwaun Hobbs scored on a 2-yard run to give South Garland a 41-24 lead.

South Garland scored two touchdowns in a span of 19 seconds midway through the fourth quarter to pull away to a 35-14 victory against Bryan Adams at Forester Stadium.   After Anthony Smith scored on a 78-yard touchdown run to clip South Garland’s lead to 21-14, two special teams miscues put the game out of reach.   Bryan Adams (1-3) could not get off a punt because of a low snap and South Garland (3-0) took over at the Bryan Adams 13-yard line.   On the next play, South Garland quarterback Jordan Reever found wide receiver Justin Blackledge for a 13-yard touchdown.   On the ensuing kickoff, South Garland’s Jacque Burris stripped the ball from a Bryan Adams returner and raced 12 yards for the touchdown and a 35-14 lead.   South Garland increased its lead in the third quarter thanks to another play on special teams.   Marcus Applewhite blocked a Bryan Adams punt to give South Garland the ball at the Bryan Adams 43.   Five players later Reever found wide receiver Josh Bobbitt for a 13-yard touchdown.   Reever completed 17 of 25 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns to lead South Garland.   Smith led Bryan Adams with a game-high 135 yards rushing.

MESQUITE--Mesquite’s Alex Woodley returned a kickoff 94 yards with 12 seconds left as Mesquite defeated South Garland, 32-25, at E.H. Hanby Stadium.   Mesquite (2-3, 2-0) seemed destined to lose its first district game of the season when South Garland kicker Tracy Davis nailed a 21-yard field goal with 28 seconds left giving South Garland a 25-24 lead.   But Woodley saved Mesquite with his third touchdown of the night.   He caught the ball at Mesquite’s 6-yard line, raced up the middle to midfield, hurdled the last South Garland defender and broke down the left sideline for the score.   Along with Woodley’s kickoff return, he scored on a 3-yard run and a 46 pass.South Garland (3-2, 0-2) erased a 17-0, first-half deficit thanks to the play of quarterback Jordan Reever and his two favorite targets, Justin Blackledge and Lance Colburn.   Reever finished the game 30 for 55 for 344 yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.   Blackledge caught nine passed for 118 yards and a touchdown while Colburn caught eight for 128 yards.   After Mesquite jumped out to a 17-0 lead, South Garland scored in 2:51 to trim the lead to two points.   South Garland got on the scoreboard as quarterback Jordan Reever accounted for all the yards on a two-play, 40-yard drive.   Reever scrambled 30 yards for a first down then scored from 10 yards a play later.   South Garland scored again before the half, traveling 61 yards in 1:02.   Reever completed 4 of 6 passes for 60 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Raimond Pendleton with 21 seconds left in the half.Mesquite used the running game to build its lead, rushing for 164 yards in the first half.   Cody Stutts began Mesquite’s scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run with 4:30 left in the first quarter.After Cory Mangum increased Mesquite’s lead to 10-0 with a 25-yard field goal, Mesquite surprised South Garland with a rare pass. Quarterback Randall Linebaugh found Woodley for a 46-yard touchdown with 8:38 left in the first half.

GARLAND-- Garland Naaman Forest quarterback John Kelly rushed for 224 yards and five touchdowns as Naaman Forest defeated South Garland, 48-21, at Williams Stadium.   Kelly scored on runs of 21, 32, 6, 44 and 7 to give Naaman Forest (4-2, 1-2) its first district win.   Kelly also had a 32-yard touchdown pass to go along with his five rushing touchdowns.   South Garland (3-3, 0-3) trimmed the lead to 34-21 on Lance Colburn’s second receiving touchdown from Jordan Reever with 4:00 left in the third quarter.   Kelly took on more of the running duties when tailback Clay Mathews left the contest with an injured right ankle.   Kelly responded with 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the second half.Naaman Forest put the game out of reach when Kelly scored his fourth touchdown on a 44-yard run with 27 seconds left in the third quarter.   Naaman Forest accumulated 436 yards.

GARLAND—South Garland earned its first District 12-5A victory defeating Garland Lakeview Centennial, 26-13, Saturday at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.   The game was postponed Friday with 23 seconds remaining in the first quarter and Lakeview leading, 7-6, because of lightning.   South Garland (4-3, 1-3) took advantage of the dry conditions passing for 118 of its 153 yards.   Quarterback Jordan Reever threw three touchdown passes.   Lakeview (4-3, 2-2) outgained South Garland, 326 yards to 230, but its offense was hindered by 183 penalty yards.   South Garland scored 26 consecutive points.   It took a 12-7 lead when Reever found wide receiver James Alford for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 7:22 remaining in the second quarter.   South Garland increased its lead when Reever connected with wide receiver Josh Bobbitt for a 49-yard touchdown and a 19-7 lead.   South Garland iced the game when linebacker Chris Montoro returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown and a 26-7 lead with 5:11 remaining.   Lakeview running back Darren Johnson rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown.

GARLAND-–Chris Franklin and Carlos Thomas each rushed for more than 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns to pace North Garland to a 35-27 victory at Williams Stadium.   Franklin had a team-high 175 yards on 26 carries for North Garland (2-6, 2-3 in 12-5A), which rushed for 345 yards as a team.   Jordan Reever threw for 185 yards and four touchdown passes for South Garland (4-3, 1-3), but was also intercepted three times.   Quinn Melton completed 11 of 14 passes for 105 yards and North Garland converted 10 of 16 third downs and had 30 first downs in the game.   Franklin scored on runs of 43 and 5 yards in the first half to turn a tie game into a 21-7 North Garland lead.   Reever, who has now thrown for a district-best 21 touchdowns, converted a turnover into points with a 10-yard strike to Justin Blackledge to narrow the deficit to 21-14.   Thomas, who finished with a season-high 101 yards, had short touchdown runs in the second and third quarters to keep North Garland in the lead.   Reever answered both scores with touchdown passes to Josh Bobbitt and Blackledge, but a drive in the final minutes stalled and allowed North Garland to run out the clock.

GARLAND--Jordan Reever completed 23 of 26 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns to lead South Garland over Rowlett at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.   Reever's aerial assault on Rowlett was at its efficient best, as he routinely hit South Garland receivers in stride for sizable gains.   Sixteen of Reever's completions went for first downs or touchdowns.   He added two touchdown runs.   Rowlett (3-6, 1-5) fell behind, 14-0, in the second quarter, but managed to tie the score at 14-14 early in the third quarter on Emmanuel Jackson's 3-yard touchdown run.   The third quarter featured 28 points combined by the two teams, 21 of which were scored in the final 2:17 of the period.   Reever's 35-yard scoring pass to Raimond Pendleton with two seconds left in the quarter gave South Garland (5-4, 2-4) the lead for good.   With its passing attack pushing Rowlett's defense back, South Garland went to the run to put the game away.   Scatback Adrion Butler ran for 109 of his 155 yards in the second half to keep the first-down markers moving and help South Garland maintain possession of the ball.   Down 35-21 with 9:14 to go, Rowlett had time to get back in the game, but its final 11 plays netted minus-9 yards.   Rowlett's final pass completion of the game was Daniel Hamblin's 8-yard touchdown pass to Josh Hammon with 1:48 left in the third quarter.   He would go 0-for-10 the rest of the way and finish with 191 yards passing on the night.

GARLAND--North Mesquite scored on 10 of its 11 possessions on the way to a 54-27 victory over South Garland Thursday night at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.   North Mesquite senior Tarell Brown had 263 yards rushing and three touchdowns and junior Randy Ransom had 114 yards rushing and two touchdowns.   North Mesquite, which led 47-7 early in the fourth quarter, already has clenched a Distict 12-5A playoff spot and will meet the winner between Longview and Lufkin next week in the first round of the Class 5A Division II playoffs.   South Garland junior quarterback Jordan Reever passed for 251 yards and three touchdowns, but the scores came mostly in the fourth quarter.   North Mesquite switched to a 4-man front from its usual 5-man and harrassed Reever.   North Mesquite had seven sacks.
